Yevgeniy Rybakov immigrated to the US in 1997 from Southern Siberia, Russia. At Suricov Art School in Krasnoyarsk, he was given a classical foundation in art that has formed the basis for his personal explorations in the Wenatchee Valley.

Rybakov’s passion for art was fueled through middle and high school in Wenatchee and was highlighted by a 2nd place finish in the National Duck Stamp Competition in 2000. He developed skills in drawing, painting, ceramics and composition, and focused on creating a detailed and intricate style. He has been continually inspired by the beautiful landscapes of the Wenatchee Valley and the paintings he admires in local galleries.

Rybakov credits his Wenatchee Valley College experience with helping him develop his personal artistic style as well as becoming more proficient with various art techniques. He was surprised to find that all of the art forms he has been exposed to have strengthened his skills with the other forms. Drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture are connected and strengthen each other. He explains

In the same way that drawing and painting improved my ceramics and ability to see forms, ceramics have allowed me to look at things differently, improving the other mediums. My recent paintings evolve from the exploration of watercolor techniques and my appreciation of the ordinary around me. For me, ceramics and other art forms are about moving forward, exploring something new all of the time. My goal is to be an artist, what form that art will take will continue to evolve.

He plans to attend Parsons The New School for Design and leaves in August! Parsons is a challenging school to get into and his recent acceptance has strengthened his art and given him a new way of looking at the future.

I need support from others, and I will make my dream come true. I have a variety of artwork at the Wenatchee Gallery in McDee’s to help fund my education at Parsons in New York City.
